Robert joins from Amazon Web Services to lead the company's agentic AI
WESTPORT, Conn. (September 25, 2026). SmartSettle AI, a post-trade settlement exception intelligence provider, announced that Robert Tjia has joined the company as Chief AI Architect. Robert joins from Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he developed core agentic AI components for the hyperscaler. At SmartSettle AI he will steer the company's agentic AI development, including The Resolution Roundtable, its agentic AI orchestration layer.
Robert is an industry-leading AI/ML engineer with expertise spanning agentic AI and classical machine learning. He has 33 years of experience, 13 of which include developing post-trade fintech software. That combination of AI expertise and deep industry experience makes him a crucial asset as SmartSettle AI establishes itself as the industry's AI solution for settlement exception management.
At AWS, Robert spent five years as a subject matter expert architecting multi-agent AI workflows for AWS Transform. Before AWS, he worked at Bloomberg building post-trade applications for global financial clients, covering trade processing from execution through settlement. Earlier, he co-founded Middle Office Solutions. Its trade anomaly detection platform processed more than 1.5 million trades daily and helped broker-dealers and custodian banks identify and resolve failed trades before settlement. Bloomberg acquired the company in 2013. Robert earned his Masters of Science in Neural Networks from the University of Toledo.
As Chief AI Architect, Robert will set the direction of SmartSettle AI's agentic AI network, enabling agentic resolution for every counterparty to a trade.
